其实，在北美也有非常多的人喜欢野外旅行。可能我是门外汉的原因，我从没听说过有配备如此高昂装备的例子。比如，以十多岁的初中生为主的童子军就定期组织持续数天的野外露营和跋涉，但我听友人所说的装备好像远没有如此之强，凡而是强调尽量以低的成本准备合适的装备。以下是友人提供给我的北美童子军3天期野外露营和跋涉的所需配备的清单。
--Backpack: sufficiently large to carry your personal gear and a share of your patrol's food and equipment;
--Sleeping Bag: if you have a light summer bag you can bring an extra blanket for fall and winter trips;
--Ground Insulation: a sleeping pad of closed cell foam;
--Ground Sheet: a piece of 6 mil polyethylene about 75cm x 200cm;
--Hiking Footwear: leather boots are ideal , but alternate footwear which fits well and provides ankle support is also acceptable. Gum boots are not recommended;
--Change of Footwear: a light pair of running shoes;
--Rain Gear: include waterproof headwear and should be sufficient for serious rain. Gore-Tex or other breathable fabrics are neither required nor recommended;
--Toque
--Changes of Socks: 2
--Change of Clothing: each person should have a change of clothing from the skin out;
--Long Fleece or Wool Pants: these retain insulating capacity when wet. Jeans are not recommended;
--Fleece Jacket of Wool Sweater: these are preferable to a cotton sweat-shirts for the same reason wool of fleece pants are preferable to blue jeans;
--A pair of Gloves
--Eating Utensils: cup, bowl, knife and spoon. Metals dishes are not recommended;
--Water Bottle: a one-liter widemouth bottle is recommended.
--Toilet Paper
--Tooth Brush, Tooth Paste & Dental Floss
--Pocket Knife
--Matches or Lighters
--Whistle on a String
--Bandaids and Moleskin
--Insect Repellent & Sun Screen
--Pencil & Paper
--Small Flashlight: make sure the batteries are reasonably new.
All your gear including sleeping bag should be packed in plastic bags because no matter what the salesperson tells you there is no such thing as a waterproof pack or stuff sack.
